Introduction

There's a story about an old lumberjack who went to the store to buy a new ax. The storekeeper said, "You don't want an ax, you need to buy one of these new chain saws, these things are incredible. You can cut down ten times as many trees with a chain saw as you can with an ax." The lumberjack said, "That sounds great, I'll take it." He took it to work the next day, and returned that night, furious. He slammed the chain saw down on the counter and said, "This thing doesn't work. I can cut down more trees with my dull ax than I did with this chain saw. I want my money back." The storekeeper said, "That's odd, let me check it."
